Color and Contrast featuring Maya Boreen

March 3, 2017 – May 12, 2017
The opening will be on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 5:30pm-8pm
As a fourth generation artist, Maya followed the footsteps of her mother, her grandmother, her great grandmother, and her grandfather (paintings owned by the Metropolitan Museum of Art).
She studied art and graduated from Dartmouth then continued her studies with Tufts, The Maryland School of Art, Missouri State College, and the Silvermine School of Art.   She has been painting for over 25 years and has had award-winning paintings exhibited throughout the Northeast.
Maya’s inspiration comes from her travels.  Whether in France, Italy, England, South America, or the United States, she seeks out dramatic landscapes full of light and color.  She tries to convey a mood of joy and luminosity through the play of lights and darks and especially enjoys capturing the effects of early morning and late evening scenes where she can explore deep shadows and warm tones of sunlight.
Most of her paintings focus on distant visual goals allowing the viewer to fill in the purposefully omitted details created through an intentionally ambiguous landscape.  She invites the viewer to use their imagination to envision themselves within each locale.
In addition, we welcome you to come by during Gallery hours to view the exhibit.

Photographer – Roy Weinstein

As professional photographer, and member of the National Press Photographers Association for many years, Roy Weinstein has expanded his talent into new creative images and techniques including Polaroid emulsion transfers and limited edition photo silkscreens.
“From a creative point of view, image transfers are appealing because they offer a way to individualize and further personalize photographs. The image takes on a fine art, vintage look similar to an old fresco.”
Roy specializes in fine art, portrait, fashion, and editorial photography.  His fine art photography is similar to impressionist-style paintings and have been published in magazines and newspapers including the New York Times, Woman’s Wear Daily, W Magazine, Newsday, and Travel/Holiday and many other publications throughout the country.

We have moved to a new location in Wilton Center, at 151 Old Ridgefield Road. Our grand re-opening will be September 8, 2016 from 5-8pm, featuring a new exhibit by the young and talented photographer Connor Golden.

Steel and Glass  is the title for the first solo show of the young and talented photographer Connor Golden. At age 12, using an iPhone and a borrowed camera, Connor began photographing cityscapes. Over the past few years, Connor has continued his love of cityscapes focusing on patterns, reflections, symmetry, and movement. Earlier this year, Connor’s photographic entries earned him 1st and 2nd place in his division at the Focus ’16 Wilton Arts Council photography exhibition.
“Cities are vibrant, yet gritty and chaotic, with many variables that change the scene in that moment. I enjoy the challenge of responding to those unpredictable conditions. Often, the results of chaos can create a great image.” – Connor Golden

Harbor Moods – Photographer Tom Kretsch

The opening will be on Thursday August 11th from 5:30pm-8:00pm
August 11th – October 7th

From the colorful boats in Nice Harbor, to the hard scrabble shores of Newfoundland, to the rugged coast of Maine, and docks along the shores of CT, Tom Kretsch has followed his passion for observing life by the harbor. In this photographic exhibition a collection of images created over many years of observing life near the edge of the harbor will be featured.
From the abstract to a graphic use of color to very simple mood provoking images, Tom’s exhibit will present his impressions as seen at many beautiful harbors both near and far.
“I am always seeing so many beautiful shapes, colors and moods as I travel along the docks and the shoreline by the harbor.   The colors, reflections, textures and shapes have given me a great tapestry of material to create this body of work.”
